Main Street Sidewalk Improvements will be a lengthy and long project. There are several phases for Main Street improvements that are grant funded and in participation with PennDOT.
The Main Street Phase II project was awarded the PennDOT Multimodal Transportation grant in the amount of $440,905.00 on February 2nd, 2018. The scope of work entails construction of curb and sidewalk improvements on Main Street which will include ADA ramps, decorative lighting, and decorative buffer strip. The project will begin at North Railroad Street to Caldwell Avenue. The project is to be let in September of 2020 with most of the construction commencing in 2021. PennDOT also has their project on Main Street that will be incorporated with the borough which is the re-aligning of the Caldwell Avenue Intersection, drainage, and paving.
The Main Street Phase 3A project was awarded on November 12th, 2019 in the amount of $298,165.00 through the Commonwealth Financing Authority. This grant phase consists of sidewalk improvements that include new curbs, sidewalks, ADA ramps, and street lights on Main Street from Caldwell Avenue to Mountain Avenue.
Another grant was submitted for the other side of Main Street through the PennDOT Multimodal Fund. This grant has not yet been awarded.
The Borough was awarded a DCNR grant on November 19th, 2019, in the amount of $40,000.00 for Crichton McCormick Park Improvements. The improvements include the rehabilitation of existing tennis courts, fencing, and ADA accessibility.
The Borough was also awarded another DCNR $10,000.00 grant for project implementation. This grant will only be used professional services.
