Portage Borough offices will be closed on Monday, February 17th, 2020 in observance of President's Day. 
Reminder of Snow Plowing Operations for parking
It shall be unlawful for any owner or operator of any motor vehicle to park on the odd side of a street or avenue on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and on the even side of a street or avenue on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.  This Section shall be effective each year for the months of November through March from the hours of 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m.
Roadways excluded are:
Caldwell Avenue between Bedford Street to Borough Line
Cunard Street between Caldwell Avenue to Gillespie Avenue
Farren Street from Caldwell Avenue to Mountain Avenue
Farren Street from 816 Farren Street to Johnson Avenue
Gillespie Avenue from Cambria Street to bridge
Jefferson Avenue from Cambria Street to bridge
Lee Street from Railroad Avenue North to Legion Avenue
Mountain Avenue from Orchard Street to Grant Street
Oak Street from Jefferson avenue to Johnson Avenue
Orchard Street from Caldwell Avenue to Mountain Avenue
Railroad Avenue North from Pine Street to Lee Street

The Portage Borough Real Estate and Per Capita Tax Collector; David Layo, was elected in November, 2019 and will take office in 2020.  David can be contacted at 814.615.3938 or at his residence at 830 Orchard Street, Portage, PA  15946.  David will begin collecting taxes on Tuesday, March 2nd, 2020 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. during the Discount Period Only or by appointment.

The Lateral testing of all properties will be required in Ward 3 upon completion of the project.  For compliance and testing requirements; refer to Ordinance 4-2014 under the Ordinance tab.

 Borough Council Meetings

Portage Borough Council has announced the regular and committee monthly meetings for 2020 which will be held on the first Monday of each month; unless the first Monday is a holiday, in which case the meeting will be held on the first Tuesday.  The meetings will begin at 6:30 p.m. prevailing time at the Portage Borough Administration Building located at 721 Main Street, Portage, PA. 

Regular meetings for 2020 will be Monday January 6th, February 3rd, March 2nd, April 6th, May 4th, June 1st, July 20th, August 3rd, Tuesday-September 8th, October 5th, November 2nd and December 7th.

 Committee of the Whole meetings for 2020 will be held at 6:30 p.m. on the following dates: January 21st, Tuesday, February 19th, March 18th, April 15th, May 18th, June 17th, August 19th, September 16th, October 21st, and November 16th.

A special meeting of Council (budget adoption) will be held on Friday, December 18th, 2020 at 6:00 p.m.
